Textures: 息. In the mood for words

Unfolding in the intimacy of the Play Den, In the mood for words is a two-part durational performance cum installation set in accordance to《房间絮语》Discourse In A Room, a collection of prose written by theatre actor and critic Neo Hai Bin over the past ten years on his reflections in daily life. In his writing practice, Hai Bin often attempts to cultivate two kinds of spaces to facilitate his creation process - a physical space and a mental one. The former allows him to indulge in writing and creating with a quiet mind while the latter hones his observation skills and empathy for the society at large. In this interactive and experiential event designed by 微Wei Collective, participants are invited to enter the mind of the writer and glimpse into his ruminations and inspirations, after which they get to pen down their thoughts and read their creations aloud.

This session will be held in Mandarin.

ABOUT “.Wei Collective”

.Wei Collective” was formed by theatre practitioners Liu Yong Huay and Neo Hai Bin in 2017. Liu Yong Huay is a lighting designer by practice while Neo Hai Bin is an actor and a writer. They are interested in the performance of space, and how the combination of materials and movements can allow one to experience the breath of a space. They believe in taking time to dive into the overlooked, the subtle, the negligible, hence finding depth in these details. In September 2017, they explored and presented “Breath @ Nine Years Theatre”, opening up a theatre rehearsal studio, and presenting a performance in the space.
